Themes

The Sustainable Community Strategy identifies eight themes as being particularly important for the wellbeing of Wealden people:

• Housing
• Learning
• Cultural Activites and Leisure
• Prosperity
• Community Safety
• Transport and Access

 

As well as the LSP Board, which meets six times a year, theme partnerships help to implement the Sustainable Community Strategy.  The partners take forward the work highlighted by the Sustainable Community Strategy and identify priorities and issues which need to be considered at a strategic level by the LSP as a whole.

At present there are four theme partnerships. 

 

Wealden Community Sports and Leisure Network

The Wealden Community Sports and Leisure Network (CSN) aims to increase participation and volunteering in sport and physical activity. It brings together a range of relevant organisations and bodies, schools and sports club alliances. Safer Wealden Partnership

The Government requires local organisations and the community to work together to reduce crime and disorder and improve the quality of life for our residents.

 

The Safer Wealden Partnership, formerly the Wealden Crime & Disorder Reduction Partnership, was set up in 1998 to tackle such issues.  Its partners include representatives from:

 

East Sussex County Council
East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service
NHS East Sussex Downs and Weald

Sussex Police
Sussex Police Authority
Wealden District Council

The partnership's website aims to keep people up to date with how we are working to reduce crime and the fear of crime, combined with useful tips and crime prevention advice.

 

 

Health Improvement Partnership

The Lewes and Wealden Health Improvement Partnership is working on five priorities that have been identified locally:

Accident Prevention
Improving Adult Sexual Health
Smoking Cessation
Reducing Alcohol Harm

Wealden Housing Partnership

The structure and nature of this partnership is currently being reviewed
